The Mala Initiative (TMI) is an inspired community of people, studios and organisations committed to helping Ourmala’s mission – by running and attending fundraising events of all shapes and sizes

“I have found Yoga to be one of the best ways to start to slow down and gain greater awareness and compassion – towards ourselves and towards the plights of other people. As well as helping people to improve their health and resilience, Yoga allows us to become more sensitive to life and to all of its joys and challenges. Ourmala helps women who have had to deal with huge life challenges, so I felt compelled to run the classes on behalf of such an important and compassionate organisation.”

Our toolkit has all the information you need to run your own TMI event/drive. It is written for a fundraising Yoga class, but can be applied to anything you can dream of. Some TMI participants are running marathons, and shaving their heads for our mission!

  • Warriors for Women

    Every year we do a big push and celebration for The Mala Initiative during Refugee Week. We call it Warriors for Women.

    The next Warriors for Women week will run in June 2017.

    Events and classes are held just like all TMI events. However, the concentration of our combined efforts has the potential to greatly raise awareness about some of the most vulnerable members of our community, refugee and asylum-seeking women.
