Big Lottery funds Hackney Yoga Project

Hackney Yoga Project is delighted to announce we have been awarded a super grant from Big Lottery’s Awards for All fund.  The grant will enable the core project to run over four months in 2013.

Hackney Yoga Project’s core service takes place every Tuesday at Hackney City Farm.   We run yoga class for 16 refugee and asylum-seeking women, English support class, put on a free hot lunch (courtesy of the fab Frizzante cafe), refund the cost of travel, provide moral support and ‘signpost’ to other activities and services open to the women.

All is free, which enables our service users to be able to take part.  (Regardless of education, qualifications, etc., you’re not allowed to work when you’re seeking asylum.  For those with granted refugee status and ‘leave to remain’ for a certain period of time, money’s often short.)

Huge thanks, Big Lottery!
