By Emily Brett, Yoga Teacher & Founder/CEO Ourmala
Meet Amram*, the little son of one of the refugee & asylum-seeking mums at my Monday yoga class we run in collaboration with Helen Bamber Foundation. Many of the mums have experienced sexual violence in conflict, modern day slavery and have become pregnant after rape.
Amram loves cuddles, has extremely soft hair and enjoys clapping along to “If you’re happy and you know it…”.
I took these snaps on Monday, when Amran had a lovely time, playing and colouring with Alice, one of Ourmala’s brilliant volunteers and enjoying a delicious hot lunch cooked by one of the refugee women in the group. His mum took home this pack of essentials, including shampoo and toothpaste.
On June 21st, we are holding a really special fundraiser in London so that we can help more refugee and asylum-seeking mums and their little ones. We would love you to be with us. Buy your ticket here, bring your friends and spread the word!
